Raw Materials Week Side Event on 17 November 2025 – Hosted by SCRREEN & PROMETIA

How can we make the most of every part of the extractive activity by creating value from the by-products that are often overlooked—especially considering that many of them are now critical raw materials essential to the twin transition?

This side event, happening during this year’s Raw Materials Week in Brussels, explores how rethinking value chains and valorising these materials can help Europe meet the ambitious targets set by the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRM Act): producing at least 40% of its annual consumption domestically and covering 25% of its needs through recycling by 2030.

Join us for a dynamic and forward-thinking session during Raw Materials Week 2025, on 17 November from 14:00 to 18:00 at La Plaza Hotel, Brussels. This event will explore how responsible management of by-products in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy can strengthen Europe’s raw materials resilience.

Co-organised by SCRREEN and PROMETIA, the session will offer cross-fertilisation of ideas by addressing value chain challenges, policy insights, EU initiatives, and research activities targeting these issues. Focusing on the recovery and responsible management of by-products and minor metals, this event will illustrate how we can enhance Europe’s raw materials resilience.
