PROMETIA PRESENTS METNET at INSE’2024 in Warsaw

We’re excited to share that PROMETIA was represented at the Sustainable Economy in Horizon Europe International Matchmaking & Networking (INSE’2024) event in Warsaw by our members, Łukasiewicz Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Elkem. This year’s event focused on various aspects of the sustainable economy, particularly the crucial role of raw materials in advancing technologies, promoting clean energy and mobility, and fostering innovative solutions in sustainable construction and metal recovery.

At this important event, we presented our mission as an association that promotes innovation in minerals processing and metals extraction and facilitates access to raw materials for European industry and citizens. Our efforts are in line with Europe’s transition to a climate-neutral economy, which includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting the principles of the circular economy and ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials. As part of the Critical Raw Materials (CRM) Act, we are committed to sustainable practices that promote both the resilience of our economy and the equitable distribution of raw materials in society.

One of the highlights of our presentation was by Christa M. Nimbona, who introduced PROMETIA’s Metnet, a collaborative network of European research institutes that plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial-scale applications.

What is Metnet?

Metnet stands as an innovative solution designed to support the development, validation, and scaling up of new processes and technologies in the field of raw materials. This collaborative network provides a unique set of resources, including advanced pilot plant facilities and testing environments, to enable seamless integration of mineral and metallurgical upscaling under real industrial conditions.

Metnet’s approach not only enhances the capabilities of research institutions but also significantly benefits industry players by ensuring that new processes are not just theoretically sound, but also practical and efficient when implemented at scale.

We would like to thank the organisers for the opportunity to present our initiatives at this influential event. The exchange of ideas and the contacts made were truly inspiring, including a special reunion with former PROMETIA President Andrzej Chmielarz.

Thanks for reading, and we look forward to working together to create positive change in the raw materials sector!
